Oh the joys of Rutierras!!!! The rutierra is the Moldovan public transportation vehicle. And this is actually one of the roomy days. Everybody in this picture is in my training village, and I think they were passing the time by singing some crazy song that involved hand motions. Ha ha!! They'd kill me if they knew I posted this on my blog! :)
The rutierras are usually so full of people that you can't even move your arms. I am amazed at how many people can squeeze into one of these vehicles! We used to laugh as we watched rutierras drive away because you could always tell a full rutierra by how much it leaned to one side as it drove off. I'm not kidding! It was like cramming sardines into a can! The people in this picture from left going clockwise are:
Dan K (just barely in the picture), Dan O (the younger of the two Dans in our village), Linda, Rok, half of my face, and the top of Andrea's head. Sometimes I have dreams of driving a car and having all the room in the world. But rutierras are also quite the exciting adventure!
