Yep. That's me on the left again! We got to dress up in traditional Moldovan costumes and everything! (as you can obviously see). The Moldovans take their dancing tradition very seriously. So, seriously in fact, that the Peace Corps staff (most of whom are Moldovan) watched us learn the dance step by step to see if we were worthy enough to present for the ceremony. Apparently, nobody has ever done anything like this before for the swearing-in ceremony, and these ceremonies are a big deal as even the US ambassador comes. Well, we must have been found worthy because there we are on the stage.
In fact, as soon as I stepped onto the stage in my traditional costume to introduce the dance, the audience broke out in applause. They loved that we as Americans cared enough about their culture to even attempt something like that. It was a lot of fun!!! :)
